In 2014-2015 Gamma Omicron was selected as the Outstanding
chapter in the State of Kansas. They
pledged three new members, turned in 11 educational reports, and participated
in all District Meetings. Several
members also attended the four state council meetings, leadership seminar in
Colorado, MARC, state and IC convention as well as the Heartspring Day of Love
and Prom. Justin
Cooper, who was their senior high youth award winner at the chapter level also
won on the state level.
The chapter sold nuts, and worked at HCI fundraising events to help raise funds for Philanthropic giving. They help at a local food kitchen called, “Second Helping”, hold annual Christmas parties with the clients at Big Lakes, and bring food to each business meeting for the Flinthills Breadbasket.
Gamma Omicron, #885, Manhattan, was chartered in 1948 and celebrated 65 years in ESA in 2013. There are currently 19 members.
Located in District J, Gamma Omicron’s members are active in all levels of ESA. Gamma Omicron is the oldest chapter in District J. They currently have three past state presidents in the chapter. Years of service with the current members ranges from six months to 60 plus years.
Gamma Omicron recently helped out with the 1st Inaugural Bill Snyder Half Marathon and 5K and were paid $400.00 for their volunteer efforts. These funds were given to the “St. Jude Push to $200 million Campaign.”
The chapter members enjoy each other and look for opportunities to work together to serve others.
