Celebrating 35 years
Chi Epsilon-WichitaChi Epsilon has celebrated 30 Years in ESA. Chi Epsilon Chapter was chartered in November, 1980. The chapter’s projects at the time were the Blarney Breakfast and Santa’s House-both projects reflecting the chapter’s mission of helping children with special needs. Chi Epsilon still does the Blarney Breakfast to benefit Rainbows United thirty years later. The chapter has twenty-two members, one being a charter member - Margaret Shook.
Over the years Chi Epsilon has earned the honor of being awarded outstanding chapter and has three members whom have served as President of the Kansas State Council: Margaret Shook, Helen Stitt and Karen Knorp-Brown.
The chapter enthusiastically supports all international, state and district projects as well as local charities such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Shasta House and Multiple Sclerosis. Birthday bags were donated to the Food Bank and foods that equaled 55 pounds representing their August birthday party was donated instead of exchanging gifts with each other. They also took food to the Alzheimer’s office when they had a food drive and another 35 pounds was donated in Christmas bags with items for a holiday meal included.
In 2011-2012 this chapter participated in “Retail Therapy” shopping bazaar and bake sale. They helped with the Festival of Trees for Goodwill in December. They also entered a tree they had decorated called “The Gardener’s Tree.” After doing this event they fired up their ovens and baked cookies and headed out to help with the “Lights on the Lake” project at Heartspring. They also purchased gifts for the mentally and physically challenged children at Shasta House
