Beta Beta in 2016-2017
Members attending the January Board meeting in Abilene.
Beta Beta was Charter in 1977 as an Andover Chapter.
Andover was begining to grow at this time and several members of Wichita chapters had just moved to Andover. In order to get to know people better and to also introduc our great organization to Andover, Bev Barnhart and Brenda Gilbert decided to organize Beta Beta. They worked really hard getting the message out and Beta Beta began as a new chapter with 20 members. Three of those members are still in Beta Beta today.....Paula Leatherman, Sandy Keener, and Karen Osborne. In the early days we were active in community events. We were California Raisins one year in the annual parade, we organized craft shows, sold taco's at sport events, and sponsored dinner theaters. We even had Chicken Bingo as a money raiser at our local Andover Days. We later began working at the Kansas Coliseum to raise money and when it closed we moved to the concessions at Intrust Bank Arena were most of the ladies are still working. We are still a large chapter, 22 members strong. We have had many of our members become active in the state and several serve on the State Board. Karen Osborne.
