Disbanded 2017 - Alpha Delta-Winfield
Alpha Delta — Winfield has celebrated 70 years in ESA being chartered in 1940. It was seventy years ago that eleven friends got together in Winfield, Kansas and started Alpha Delta. Though many things have changed, are still committed to the original values that were started so long ago. In 1971 they put out their first concession stand at the fairgrounds during the Bluegrass Festival. As Bluegrass became famous they grew right along with it.
Thirty-eight years later they have people wanting to help, and others that can’t wait for them to open. Their husbands are always there to help, which they are extremely grateful. At their 60th anniversary the mayor gave them a certificate of proclamation for their outstanding organization, providing philanthropic and social contributions, which have proved beneficial to the community of Winfield.
They would like to thank the first eleven ladies that started Epsilon Sigma Alpha 70 years ago, because it is a honor to be a member of Alpha Delta.
In 2012-2013 Alpha Delta had 16 members and several meetings with veterans. Our education programs this year centered on veterans and it has been very interesting listening to their stories and experiences. Two veterans from the honor flights gave presentations to the chapter. Other educational materials included the history of Winfield. The chapter had their usual food booth at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival in September. It is a big event and takes all the members and husbands along with a few volunteers to work the booth. The money made allows the chapter to donate to various organizations and funds during the year. It is hard work but everyone has a great time. The Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival Food Booth was a success enabling us to give more monies for various charities. Our chapter has gotten several new members who have added to our energy.
In 2011-2012 Alpha Delta pinned two new pledges in December and are pledging a new member. They also purchased hats and mittens for Hats for Hope and gave them to local schools and the Salvation Army in their community.
